She is – The song
She is is my new song as of Feb 2009.
When I listen to it I cannot help thinking and saying “Where is that old rocker in me?” It’s my third song in a row in the past year with which I broke that unspoken rockers rule by not having a lead guitar solo in the song, and worse still I have not laid my fingers on my electric guitar during that year, my, my.
In this ballad I did not think about any musical style, I let the song lead me with the lyrics being the driving force, I let the music layer be an unassuming backdrop to the poetry by using two acoustic guitars, basic base line and minimal percussion, and I took pleasure experimenting with vocal harmony and emphasis on lyrics delivery with a “first take” kind of raw edged singing.
